Paleontology, the study of prehistoric life, suggests humans have hunted and consumed meat since about forever, probably right from the start. The domestication of animals dates as far back as 10,000 years. There are many varieties of meat that is consumed worldwide. Current day recipes for mostly consist of the most common variety, chicken, beef, sheep and pork primarily.
Fish and sea foods aren't considered as meat in some cultures but as a 'neutral' food that is neither meat or dairy.
Scientists are working on producing laboratory-grown meat, also known as clean-meat. Clean meat comes from cultured animal tissue cells grown under laboratory condition. Plant-based meat comes from vegetable ingredients such as soy, tempeh and seitan.
